Nickserv is a bot that allows users to "Register" a name, and stop other people from using it. Nickserv makes it also possible to remove a other using the nickname.
Registering
Before you can use nickserv you should register a username. Its not that difficult to register a username, just take a nickname that isn't already taken and give the command below in your chatwindow
/msg Nickserv register password valid email
After your registration you should check your mail, Freenode has send a email to verify your email, in this email you will vind all information how to confirm your email. When you don't confirm your email your account will be dropped after 24 hours, so when it give a wrong emailadres by exident you just have to wait 24 untill you can register again.
After your registration is is possible to attach more names to your account, the max is currently set on 20 names. If you want to attach a name to your registered name you can use the following commands.
/nick thenameyouwant
/msg nickserv group
Your nickname is now attached to your current account, you can repeat this action for other names. If you want to remove a nickname from you account you could use:
/msg nickserv ungroup
The current nickname isn't attached to your account anymore.
Identify
When you have registered a nickname and you want to use it when you come online you need to identify yourself to the services. You just need to use the following command
/msg nickserv identify
